The inaugural adventure of Latitude 35 Racing was the 2015 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge. The team entered the four-person race. The race began on December 20th of that year. Latitude 35 had a tumultuous start with one of the team members, Nick Kahn unable to recover from sever sea-sickness and eventually requiring evacuation from the boat at 600 miles into the 3,000 mile race. A second team member, Greg Wood, was unable to sustain the physical and emotional demands of the race and also left required evacuation at that time.
Remaining teammates Jason Caldwell and Tom Magarov decided to continue racing the remaining 2,400 miles in a boat never before rowed by less than four people. On New Year’s day these two friends, now in 24th place, continued on and spent the next 41 days pushing through the grueling environment, working together and supporting one another, eventually finishing in 51 days 8 hours, and 3 minutes, taking 11th place overall, and setting the Amerian Record as the fastest four-person crew to row across the Atlantic.
